After finding at least 15-20 dead frogs in the pond after the ice finally melted, today, 6th March, I noticed some frog spawn in the pond – one clump. So some frogs survived somewhere. I will watch with interest to see if there is any more. We still had ice on the pond last week but only a thin layer which had melted by the afternoon. The water does not look very good though. Lots of dead vegetation which we did not have time to clear before the ice set in and it rather looks as though there is a film over the top of the water. Would running the pump help do you think?
