More triffids

Everyone (well, nearly everyone) loves seeing ducks and geese on ponds.

The only problem is that if waterfowl are present in large numbers they will eat practically every living plant, as well as adding an unhealthy dose of nutrient pollution to the water.

It’s hard (well, probably impossible) to deal with the nutrients in the duck s**t but you can try to protect plants from being eaten.

Here’s a novel solution being tried at Kew Gardens to protect clumps of Common Reed from the large numbers of ducks and geese.

It’ll be interesting to see if it works.
