This morning the third clump of spawn has appeared.

You can see the jelly has yet to expand, compared to the original spawn clump.

It’s in the classic spawning place: in the shallowest water, amongst the creepiong bent grass (which is just about one of our commonest pond edge plant – though it goes largely un-noticed.

  1. Kathie Weedon Says:

The frogs in my pond spawned on the 14th of March, we counted 10 adults. All seemed well but after about 7 days the spawn seemed to have disappeared and on investigation it looked like the jelly around the tadepole had disapeared or disintigrated. Our pond is 6 x 4 feet and 3 feet deep. We live in Torquay Devon. It seems by reading on here we are lucky we have no dead frogs. We have newts but i have not seen any this year. Could anyone give me an explanation what happened to my frogs spawn?.
