As the outside air temperatures plummet (-16 C in Oxfordshire yesterday), the old pond has slowly been cooling over the last few days.
The continuous monitoring probe went back in on Sunday – here are the results so far.
Its still a safe 1.2 C under the ice and snow – and the pond here is only 15-20 cm deep.
