Ornamental plants make good compost

Follow the advice of the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association – compost them!
But the real problem is that once you’ve put a plant in a garden pond you’ve more or less released it in the wild.
People. Birds. The wind. Amphibians. Maybe even smaller pond animals. They can all move bits of plant around. Most won’t survive away from the garden – some may and that’s the risk.
